Katie Willis, (GDC Registration number: 114473), an experienced and respected hygienist, works with us every Tuesday and, as soon as Covid restrictions allow Wednesday as well, and offers our patients a valuable, complementary Dental Hygiene service.
We are very lucky to have Carol Daubeney working as our ‘Clinical Manager’ – Carol has thirty year’s nursing experience and valuable experience from a range of private and NHS practices. She started her career with us when she was only sixteen and is hugely welcome back at Bicton Place! Carol is a very positive addition to the team, she helps support our clinical nursing staff as well as the practice with clinical standards and compliance, and is the first point of call for clinical queries or complaints.
On our nursing team we have experienced Dental Nurse Jessica Matthews. Jessica is also a qualified Oral Educator, working with us three to four days a week. Jess examines for the National Examining Board of Dental Nurses (NEBDN) observing Dental Nurses undertaking their practical (OSCE) exam.
Dana Poenari is the latest qualified dental nurse to join our team. She qualified in 2019 and has worked locally in a variety of respected practices. Dana works full time at Bicton Place supporting all of our dentists.
Experienced nurse Sanna Hunt qualified as a Dental Nurse with the NEBDN in 2008 and as an Oral Health Educator NEBDN in 2011. Sanna works at Bicton Place part-time and works at the Peninsula Dental School for the remainder of her working week.
Apprentice Dental Nurse Lucy Miller has been working with us since January 2020. Lucy is currently studying for an Advanced Apprenticeship in Health (Dental Nursing), Level 3. She will be studying at Exeter College on Mondays and working with us on the other four days of the week, gaining experience in all areas of the practice but particularly with David Ward our principal dentist. We hope very much that Lucy will stay working with us once qualified, probably in 2021.
We also have with us Lucy May Thomas. Lucy May is just finalising her City & Guilds Dental Nursing Diploma and works with us three days a week.
These nurses are extremely valued and critical members of our team. We are constantly inspired by how hard they work, how well they work together to support each other, help our patients and the practice as a whole.
At reception you will usually find Jayne Moores who has been with us since 2005 and works extremely hard at answering patient queries and managing the very busy telephones and diaries among many other critical other tasks. Jayne is a font of knowledge and if there are ever any queries about appointments or our service, she is the first point of call. Sarah Allwood, a lady with significant experience working in the dental industry works on reception every Monday.
Julie Mason is our Administrative Manager. Julie manages most of the financial and administrative responsibilities of our busy practice.
Unlike most practices, we are very fortunate to have an on-site laboratory. Working closely with our dentists, Bicton Dental Laboratory Services, owned separately and run by Senior Technician Paul Boeree, provides an efficient and skilled service producing quality crowns, bridges and dentures, as well as a same day denture repair service.
